Insight-led research, marketing and PR agency, NGI Solutions, has appointed a new leadership team and welcomed fresh faces after several key contract wins.
Established in 2014, the Gateshead-based agency has seen substantial growth in the last five years delivering projects for clients across a range of sectors – from tourism, hospitality retail and events to professional services, commercial property and social housing.
As the trading arm of NewcastleGateshead Initiative (NGI), all profits from NGI Solutions are reinvested back into the work of NGI to promote the North East and drive economic growth.
NGI Solutions has won several new projects recently, including research contracts with energy giant SSE and Stockton Council, and a major communications campaign for Newcastle United Foundation.
Former director of marketing and communications at NGI, Kathie Wilcox, has been appointed director of NGI Solutions. Kathie has a wealth of experience in PR and marketing – both agency and in-house – including over 12 years with NGI where she has enjoyed a variety of roles, from delivering major national and international campaigns to managing media and corporate affairs.
Ian Thomas has been promoted to associate director, working closely with Kathie to grow the business, and will also lead on the research side of the agency. Ian has nearly 20 years’ experience managing research projects and has worked with a wide range of businesses, with special expertise in the hospitality, leisure and culture sectors.
Jodie Balmer has joined the team as a dedicated senior account manager. Jodie joins NGI Solutions from her previous role as marketing manager at Generator having worked in B2B and B2C communications for the past seven years in several high-profile integrated agencies globally across multiple sectors, including: travel, FMCG, healthcare, tech, and telecoms. Jodie has a keen interest in PR and digital marketing and will lead on new business and account delivery for relevant clients.
Another new addition to the team is Lucy Nichol, who joins as head of marketing and communications. Lucy has over 15 years’ experience in PR and marketing, working across arts and culture, higher education, housing and health, both in-house and agency-side. She is also a keen mental health campaigner and a freelance writer, with by-lines in a wide range of national media titles.
Kathie Wilcox, NGI Solutions Director, said: “We’re really proud of the breadth of experience and expertise that we have at NGI Solutions and our latest recruits have certainly bolstered the team as we gear up for future growth. Over the past five years, the business has developed substantially, with a host of new regional and national clients tapping into our insight-led research, marketing and PR services to support their own business aims; recent new clients include SSE, Newcastle United Foundation and Stockton Council.
“Looking ahead, this year is shaping up well with a fantastic team in place, some exciting new projects to get our teeth into and lots of ideas for progression in the pipeline.”
