9:15 - 12:30
Campus North, 5 Carliol Square, Newcastle upon tyne
By The HR Dept Newcastle

When it comes to your business growth, employees are the key. Right from that very first hire, planning and managing your people can be challenging. Add to the mix a growing business, having employees suddenly got a whole lot harder and a lot more challenging.

Our half day course is will train you in your responsibilities as an employer and how to manage your HR function from the beginning to the end of employment. It is specifically targeted at tech sector employers and will provide an excellent knowledge base to build upon.

This is perfect for anyone with HR responsibilities, for example Chief Operating Officers, Office Managers, Trainee HR Advisors, Business Owners. In our experience people often find themselves with HR responsibilities with very little experience or training but a heap of keenness!

Whilst it’s easy to think it won’t happen to you, with tribunal fees having been scrapped, and the average award of £12,362 (max £238,216) for unfair dismissal and £23,478 (max £557,039) for sex discrimination (plus legal fees and reputation damage) the cost to your organisation of getting it wrong could be devastating. Financially and reputationally.

This workshop will cover:

Making your offer and getting the right employment status
Employment Contracts from an employers perspective
Inducting new starters and probationary periods
Benefits (including unlimited holiday approach, flexible working and the odd duvet day)
Managing Remote Workers
Sickness absence (including mental health)
Dealing with conflict and resolving problems – disciplinary, grievance and unsatisfactory performance
GDPR responsibilities in relation to HR
At the end of employment
By the end of the course you will understand your key responsibilities and be able to manage important HR processes within your company.

We intentionally keep our groups small to enable time for discussion and questions, therefore early booking is essential.
